Overall,
if we had to pick a winner looking at all factors, we think Fresh
& Easy may be at the top of the list. Not only was much of the
food neatly pre-packaged (saving time), it appeared to be in
"sparkling" quality. Due to the plastic wrap on many items,
the actual food itself is less handled (potentially keeping it more
sanitary and in better condition). To begin with, the prices were
relatively good on many items, but the regular 1/2 price specials could
help a tight budget even further. Furthermore, the shopping experience at
Fresh & Easy may compare much better than the potentially frenzied
shopping experience of discount markets (e.g. WinCo & Food for
Less). Main drawbacks at this store may include the fact that one cannot
choose the exact quantity of produce items (since many are prepackaged
in standard sizes) and that the selection here may not be as wide as at
some other stores.
In
last place, shoppers considering price alone may place Albertsons
last, followed by Ralphs and Vons.
